Don't plant grass where grass won't grow

The English ivy, Asian star jasmine and wedelia serve as a good ground cover that is under the shade, instead of grass. Grass can only grow well on areas under direct sunlight and not under some trees. To trim these ground covers, a lawnmower or a nylon-string trimmer can be used.

Red chokeberry

The red chokeberry is a member of the rose family. It thrives most of the year, requires little care and resists pests and insects. In the spring, it produces clusters of pink flower buds. In the fall, the leaves provide the color show with orange, carmine and violet-pink hues.
