Article Abstract:
Earwigs consume plants as well as other insects, so they are both harmful and beneficial. Their potential, in large numbers, to damage crops outweighs the benefits. Control methods include attracting tachinid flies who prey on earwigs and keeping plants strong enough to resist an infestation.

Bt is a nontoxic, organic, naturally occurring, spore-forming, soil-dwelling bacteria that can kill a variety of garden pests. Overuse of Bt, however, can cause some insects to develop a resistance. Tips for effectively using Bt in an organic garden are detailed.
