Heavenly heliconias
Article Abstract:
Heliconias, first brought to Europe in the 19th century, are enjoying renewed popularity in private homes and gardens. Colorful nicknames like "Lobster claw," "Holiday," and "Dwarf Jamaican," heliconias are relatives of the banana and do best in climates with daily rainfall and temperatures averaging above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Ideal humidity is 50% or higher.

Habitat gardening: Tropical Florida and Hawaii
Article Abstract:
Habitat gardening in Florida and Hawaii is challenging because a lot of native habitat has been lost to development and encroachment of invasive non-native species that is difficult to locate suitable models and plants. Some of the top four trees for tropical habitat gardens are discussed such as geranium tree, fringe tree, sea grape and scrub hickory.

Great ground covers for shade
Article Abstract:
Several ground cover plants for a shady spot in a garden selected by expert with reference to their maintenance is presented. Some of the ground covers include European wood anemone, Canadian wild ginger, the bulblet or bladder fern, dwarf crested iris and Meechania cordata.
