Seattle Art Museum's traveling exhibit, "Native Visions: Northwest Coast Art, 18th Century to the Present," examines the development of Indian art objects such as baskets and jewelry. The similar weave pattern in 19th century baskets and those made 5,500 years ago inspired the exhibit.

Article Abstract:
Lillian Elliot's exhibition of 23 baskets and four woven wall hangings was a balanced installation in which no one work was allowed to dominate. The baskets have a rich variety while retaining a collective resemblance.

Many of the designs featured on baskets women by native women in North America are extremely attractive. Collectors are particularly interested in baskets which have been used by the natives.
