Bill Strickland founded the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild in 1968 to provide an arts program for the poor in Pittsburgh, PA. The 14,000 sq-ft facility includes studios, a concert hall, a gallery and recording equipment. Strickland was the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation genius award.

The Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts in Racine, Wisconsin, offers an arts programs called Victory in Peace for inner-city children who are frequently exposed to violence and drugs. With the project, children learn how to express themselves as well as create books.
