The 1997 Salisbury Festival covers a wide range of exhibitions and events. The local library is the venue for 'Les Frigos,' an installation by French artists Opus, while sculptures by Elizabeth Frink are displayed on the green surrounding the cathedral. Station House Opera is to perform a piece which presents a symbolic re-enactment of the building of the cathedral, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is to give a fireworks concert. Some of the events have attracted criticism from local residents.

It is ideally situated next to the popular themed restaurant Planet Hollywood in a busy part of the city's West End. Its frontage is impressive and modern but its interior is cramped, cheap and unattractive. Its menu is based on low-calorie, uninteresting recipes. The cafe has a retail store which stocks a limited range of novelty items.
