Professor and horticulturist Michael A. Dirr has written extensively about woody landscape plants. His 'Manual of Woody Landscape Plants' is the most widely used textbook on the subject in the US. He also wrote 'Dirr's Hardy Trees and Shrubs,' created the CD-ROM 'Michael A. Dirr's Photo-Library of Woody Landscape Plants' and co-authored 'The Reference Manual of Woody Plant Propagation.' Dirr received his bachelor's and master's of science degrees from Ohio State University and his doctorate in plant physiology from the University of Massachusetts.

Diane Relf: Promoting the healing power of plants

Diane Relf founded the People-Plant Council, an affiliation of horticulture-related organizations that points on the psychological, sociological, physiological, economic, and environmental impact of plants on people in schools, prisons, medical facilities, offices and even homes. Relf discusses how the power of plants can be used to improve human life at all levels.
