Frank Smith believes that sewing machines are worth collecting. In fact, he has been doing so for three decades already. His passion for these tools started when he saw a man destroying a sewing machine and realized that they can become rare in the future. He now has more than 250 machines in his collection.

Harris has been collecting vintage clothing for 10 years and has written several books on the subject. She preserves the artifacts she finds in acid-free paper and never wears them. A few are worn by models for short periods for photographs and a few are displayed in her home.
