Organic matter; feeding the soil instead of the plants
Article Abstract:
Hints for the gardener are given on the necessity of organic matter for soil health. The organic matter improves soil structure by facilitating formation of soil aggregates. Good aggregation leads to a continuous network of pores, allowing for better movement of water and air throughout soil and easier penetration by plant roots.
