Article Abstract:

Few people are aware of the beauty and fragrance native azaleas can bring to the home garden. The evergreen shrubs often bloom from early spring into late summer and are spectacular in Zone 5, but are hardy enough to stand the cool climates of Zones 6 and 7. The shrubs can grow 12 to 17 feet high in well drained, occasionally dry soil.

America's wisterias

Article Abstract:

Issues regarding wisteria culture are discussed, as is choosing native or Asian species for use in a garden. While Asian species can be the most spectacular, the native ones can be the better garden choices as they require the least management. A directory of nurseries providing wisterias is given.

Reblooming hydrangeas

Article Abstract:

The potential causes of the failure of reflowering of the bigleaf hydrangeas are identified. Efforts are made to obtain bigleaf hydrangeas with the quality of continuous bloom, linked with desirable characteristics such as foliage and flower variegation, colors, size and attractive forms.
