Phone card collecting fever hits the United States
Article Abstract:
Telephone card collecting has become widespread in the US since the hobby was popularized in Japan during 1983. Over 216 telephone companies provide cards in 153 countries and collectors are estimated at 2.5 million. Companies and fundraising groups also use telephone cards for marketing purposes.

Entertainer Roy Rogers, considered a legend both on screen and in real life, passed away in July 1998. Rogers, whose career lasted some 60 years starring in Western films and singing, was the epitome of the American cowboy from the 1930s to the 1950s.
