Strawberry beds should be renovated about 7-10 days after the last berry is picked. Gardeners should remove all foliage above the crowns, fertilize and cultivate the soil and reposition the rows for new runners. The soil should be deeply watered at least once a week.

Reclaiming the curbside
Article Abstract:
Sidewalks provide space for gardeners to plant plants that grow without benefit of humus or water. Such a garden was built in Colorado by a homeowner of a corner lot by combining seed-grown plants, bulbs, cacti and dwarf shrubs.
