Harry L. Rinker recounts the events where he had lost a number of friends, which illustrate several key facets of the antiques and collectibles industry. According to him, people in the trade develop and build friendships with those they encounter when they first enter while only a select few generalist dealers and collectors and staff of trade periodicals maintain friendships over the broad spectrum.
