Tree planting without tears (or stakes or wires or pruning)
Article Abstract:
Some of the techniques used to plant trees are unnecessary or even harmful. Heavy composting can confuse the tree's roots when they grow out of the composted area. Heavy pruning of the new tree is not needed and can cause the tree to be misshaped. Staking and guide wires are also not needed.
