Stalking wild seeds

Flowers grown from wild seeds can enrich a garden if they are carefully selected and planted. Hunting should be done along roadsides while flowers are blooming to note their location and return when they go to seed. Directions for preparing the seeds and sowing are included.

Pitcher plants have trumpet-shaped leaves that act as lures for small insects such as flies, bees and wasps. Biologists speculate that their carnivorous nature might have developed as a way to gain nitrogen, which is lacking from many bogs. Details on cultivation are given.
