Stargazing in the South is best indulged in during dark winters, when nights are clear and cold and interesting constellations appear from November to March. A husband and wife discovered that more than fostering closeness, it allows them to look back to one's childhood when life was much simpler.

A Southern States weather forecast for May 1992 is presented. Portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and most of Oklahoma will receive above-average rainfall. On the other hand, most of Virginia, Kentucky, the Mid-Atlantic States and part of Tennessee will receive lesser rainfall.

The South's secret snowbirds

Some hummingbirds spend the winter in the South, arriving in late summer to autumn and remaining until between late Jan and late Apr. Rare hummingbirds such as the broad-billed and the rufous have been seen in the Middle and Lower South.
