Sugar on snow
Article Abstract:
Using maple sugar for confections instead of cane sugar was taught by Native Americans to the early New England colonists. Originally they would pour molten maple syrup on snow to test its granulating temperature. Underheated syrup makes a tasty snowy maple caramel candy.

A college student who grew up on a farm reminisces about naming the newborn lambs. Some were named after friends or characters from books. Other names were based on the lamb's appearance.
