Article Abstract:
The 76-year-old resident of Sheridan, OR, discovered his love of wood sculpture in the 1940s, but did not pursue it as a career until 1952. Trained as a Protestant minister, his work is influenced by his love of nature. He uses figurative reliefs and, in larger pieces, creates a pictorial wood grid.

Contemporary glass: seduction vs. intellect
Article Abstract:
The Seattle Art Museum held a symposium on contemporary glass design. Participants at the symposium discussed the aesthetics of glass sculpture and its use in expressing concepts such as civilization and enlightenment, as well as the definitions of art and craft.

Danny Perkins: grunge glass
Article Abstract:
Danny Perkins' glass sculptures can be likened to the grunge scene of Seattle. Like the music, clothing and attitude representative of grunge, the sculptures seem to rebel against the conventional purity of glass art.
