Organized crime in the UK has taken form significantly different from the traditional paradigms seen in the Chinese Triad or the Mafia. Although it retains the strong ethnic element, organized crime in the UK incorporates both professional and amateur criminals who depend on a select group of fencers and supporters. Moreover, British criminal organizations do not seek to re-invest proceeds into the larger economy unlike the Triad or the Mafia.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC-u) windows have become increasingly popular in British housing scheme projects. The Wandle Housing Association of London, England, has just spent more than 200,000 pounds sterling on replacement PVC-u windows and other renovation works on the old-age people's home Queen Elizabeth House. The vertical sliding sash and casement windows were designed to match the original wood windows.
