Testing your home for radon
Article Abstract:
About one in every 15 US home has a possibly unsafe radon level. The radioactive gas seeps indoors from the ground, and winter when the house is closeed tighter is a good time to check radon levels indoors. Various test kits ranging in price from $15 to $30 are described. Repairs may cost $2500.

Volunteer efforts saving lakes
Article Abstract:
New Hampshire has the most advanced volunteer lake monitoring program, but groups in other states are also successfully saving their lakes. Lake pollutants from road salts, septic tanks, sewers, and other sources have decreased because of advocacy and monitoring by the groups.
