Empire-style furniture was made in the US between the Sheraton and Victorian furniture periods or from about 1800-60, and was heavily influenced by the French designs, but designs from other countries are also evident in designs.

My worst mistake!

A 1937 recliner that cost $4.37 new was bought for $75 in 1965. If kept in original condition, it could have been worth $10 to $15,000 today, but it was ruined as an investment when it was stripped and stained a lighter color.
