The Maine Society of Doll and Teddy Bear Artists (MSDBA), formed in 1992, aims to establish the first US permanent educational facility that teaches doll making and bear making. With more than 100 members selected by invitation, MSDBA also hopes to uplift doll and bear making into an art form.

Barb Lawrence Giguere: dolls, bears and the MSDBA
Article Abstract:
Barb Lawrence Giguere founded the Maine Society of Doll and Bear Artists in 1993. Giguere, who solicited members through networking, also promoted the expansion of the art of doll-making to include bear artists. The society held its public premiere in 1995.
