The field sparrow abounds in weedy fields, eating seeds from the ground. Its loud clear musical song is sung only by the males. Females emit high trills or chipping sounds. Scattering sunflower seeds or crushed peanuts on the ground, and putting out dog or horse hair for nests, may attract them.

Bird photography is challenging because of the bird's movements. Tips are offered on how to take successful bird pictures. Among the cameras that are good for bird photography is the 35mm with interchangeable lenses. Always focus on the bird's eyes and use the fastest shutter speed.

One of the best ways to photograph birds is to attract them to the kinds of feeders they prefer. Since birds enjoy feeders that have natural cover, it is helpful to place them near trees and shrubs that are outside windows. Then the birds can be photographed unobtrusively.
