Values: acting on our shared beliefs
Article Abstract:
There are 10 organizational values deemed important by most home economists which include emphasis on excellent educationprograms, clientele credibility, honesty and integrity, sensitivity to employees' personal and family responsibilities. Most home economists also put a premium on programs that guide people to formulate solutions to their own problems especially those that are adaptable, flexible and practical. Teamwork and equal employment opportunities are also regarded as important.

A survey of early-adolescent home economics programs
Article Abstract:
A survey of early-adolescent home economics programs was conducted at the intermediate levels composed of grades five through eight. About 82.7% of schools surveyed offer home economics at the seventh grades and 95.3% at the eight grades. Only a few schools offer the course at the fifth grade. The contents are usually about textiles and clothingand food and nutrition. Curricular changes may be necessary to make the home economics course more practical and effective.

Critical thinking: enhancing adolescent decision making
Article Abstract:
Educating adolescents in the techniques of critical thinking can help them to solve problems and make more rational decisions. Critical thinking is a process of reflection, analysis and evaluation of issues. It can be developed through instructional strategies such as creative visualization; debates; dramatization; and the pluses, minuses and implications (PMI) technique of considering alternatives.
