Vegetables with a foreign accent
Article Abstract:
Gary Peese, an Austin, TX gardener has planted about 500 sq ft with exotic vegetables, many from Italy. They include wild arugula greens, chicory, trombone squash, serrano chiles, also Thai basal and Mexican jalapeno. Peese was influenced by the color of fresh produce in Italian markets.

Trumpet honeysuckle: Lonicera sempervirens
Article Abstract:
The trumpet honeysuckle is a climbing vine that boasts a profusion of scarlet tubes. The native plant is drought-resistant, can tolerate either full sun or shade, and thrives in most soils. The Sulphurea variety has yellow blooms.

Vines of summer

Unoccupied spots can be hard to find in a garden after a few years. The solution can be vines. While needing little horizontal space, these plants can cover unsightly features such as tree stumps while offering flower views.
