Three species of winter squash have their own features, and all the varieties are nutritious and long-lasting. The cucurbita pepo species grows well in the northern US, while the cucurbita moschata species is distinctive by its solid stems. The cucurbita maxima species produces the best quality.

There are many varieties of iris plants. Tall bearded irises are found in purple, pink, yellow, blue and bronze, but they tend to yield to plant diseases when the climate is not hot and dry. Japanese irises bloom in June and July and must have an acid soil that is moist.
