The mighty Conestoga

There were 5,000 Conestoga wagons which transported people and their merchandise between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh from 1820-1850. The advent of the railroads, however, contributed to the Conestoga's demise in the 1860s because the railroad served as its replacement in hauling cargoes.
