Edgewood seeks to double capacity
Article Abstract:
Edgewood Furniture, an upholstery manufacturer based in Canada, will aim to double its manufacturing capacity with a newly opened 110,000-sq-ft facility. The new factory, which also contains a showroom and a 22,000-sq-ft office, is estimated to have the capacity to deliver roughly C$30 million worth of furniture products per year. In addition to the new factory, the family-owned company also operates two other manufacturing facilities, including one that makes furniture products under the Brentwood Classics brand.

Simmons Canada sales rise, profits fall

SCI Income Trust, parent of bedding and upholstery manufacturer Simmons Canada, experienced a 5.8% increase in first-quarter revenues. while earnings fell 30.7%. Revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 were C$27 million, versus C$25.5 million in the same period of 2000.
