FBI 2Q profits fall 42.2%

St.Louis based furniture maker Furniture Brands International (FBI) releases its statistics about the profit and sales of second quarter of 2005. These statistics reveal that the net income of the company fell 42.2% when compared with the previous season. Still FBI is not going to change its six strategic initiatives and expecting the sales to be down in the coming quarter.

Sale-store sales dip in Oct

Same-store sales have fallen sharply in October for Pier1 Imports, The Bombay Company and Havertys because of import flow difficulties, election anxieties and sagging consumer confidence. The companies are optimistic for November with the holiday season beginning and hope for the sales to pick up.
