Kindel's Fogarty zeroes in on exact copies of prized pieces
Article Abstract:
Grand Rapids, MI-based Kindel's creation of exact replicas of American signature furnitures in the 18th and 19th century has been rewarded by a fourfold growth in 20 years of operation. Despite just 90 distributors in the United States, the company's sales growth has mostly been spurred by successful auctions of the original piece. With a license from Winterthur Museum acquired in 1980 and another from the Irish Georgian Society Collection, the company, through its owner, Bob Fogarty, is setting its sights on more growth and a continued adherance to the principle of producing line-for-line replicas only with the use of the same materials used in the original.

ABC on lookout for new markets
Article Abstract:
ABC Carpet and Home is on the watch for new markets where the carpet retailer can establish more stores. Chicago, IL, is one site under consideration, but no deal has been finalized by ABC, which operates four stores in the metro area of New York and one in Florida. As part of an effort to increase ABC's 1999 sales by 30%, the company is doubling the size of its 50,000-sq-ft store in Delray Beach, FL, and renovating its 100,000-sq-ft clearance center in Bronx, NY. The expansion is not limited in the US as ABC is opening a 7,000-sq-ft rug department at Harrod's department store in London, England, in August 1998.
