Leather fights hard for gains

The growth of leather upholstery seating, which skyrocketed from 10% of all U.S. retail upholstery sales in 1992 to a 25.9% share by 2001, is undergoing a slight decline. Domestic leather suppliers, facing the competition from microfabric materials and also the eastern countries, are turning their attention inward, upgrading their commitment to building a better, more stylish product.

The distraction of the weaker dollar that is making some imported upholstery more expensive to U.S. buyers are tried to overcome by the leather upholstery manufacturers.
