New Dutailier glider rockers really move

Dutailier will introduce a new line of metal-base chairs that are built with a new stabilizer for tension adjustment based on user weight. The patented chair technology allows self adjustment to ergonomics of the chair user, according to Ron Jeghers, vice president of Dutailier's sales and marketing. He expects the new line to be formally launched at the October High Point market and be ready for shipment in fall 1998. The metal-based product, priced from C$549 to C$699, will be offered in seat covers such as polyurethane, fabric and full-grain leathers.

Koo Koo Design Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia, has unveiled a new line of infant blankets, towels and bibs that features such designs as teddy bears, sheep, dogs, moo cows, cats and gorilla men and women. The company, founded by Stephen Senini, decided to venture into baby products after years of success in the giftware business. Koo Koo Design's products features offbeat designs that include rubber ducks, happy faces, lady bugs, Martians and bees, patterns that Senini intends to bring into his latest venture.

Glider rockers set to move in '99

A majority of glider rocker makers forecast a 3% to 10% improvement in sales for 1999 and around 6% growth in glider rocker sales is anticipated in 1998 to approximately $800 million. The glider rocker category can be propelled through the creation of new products featuring more aggressive new designs that show a fresher 'yuppie' look, said Chair Co's senior VP of sales and marketing, Pete Cohen.
