Nichols & Stone owners buy Brady

Article Abstract:

Nichols & Stone's investor owners have purchased solid-wood bedroom furniture manufacturer Brady Furniture of North Carolina because of the company's reputation in the solid-wood furniture manufacturing industry, noted Nichols & Stone president C.E. Nichols Jr. Nichols & Stone decided to retain Brady Furniture president Dexter Campbell in the same position but will appoint Nichols as chief executive officer of Brady Furniture. Brady Furniture is expected to launch two collections of solid-wood bedroom furniture at moderate prices in October 1998, said Campbell.

Wesley Allen boosts quick-ship

Wesley Allen of Los Angeles, CA, one of the US' remaining metal bed manufacturers , has expanded its quick-ship program to include 22 items. The expanded program, which is capable of shipping an order in five working days, will start to include 15 adult bed models and two daybeds beginning Jan. 1, 1999. Wesley, whose products in the expanded quick-ship program are available in 25 of the firm's custom finishes, decided to expand the program after its successful initial implementation about a year ago.

Dining specialist Pastel moves into bedroom

Pastel, a specialist in casual dining, is launching its bedroom line in San Francisco, CA. Pastel is introducing three contemporary master bedroom suites in the $5,000 retail range for a complete suite. The company, which also sells to specialty casual dining stores, hopes to expand and enhance its business with better furniture stores that exceed the casual dining market. One of Pastel's bedroom offerings is the Pacific Heights Collection, which features wood, metal and unique, upper-end finishes.
