O'Sullivan sales up 5%, but income dips

O'Sullivan Inds.' sales for the fourth quarter and fiscal year increased, but its net income declined as a result of a year-long program to place new software systems and equipment in its plants. While its sales for the fourth quarter increased by 5.2% from a year earlier to 484.4 million and sales for the fiscal year that ended Jun. 30, 1998, hiked 5% to $339.4 million, O'Sullivan's net income declined by around 9% for both the quarter and year. Net income for the quarter totaled to only $4.1 million and $14.9 million for the fiscal year.
