Article Abstract:
A house with an octagonal glassed vestible was a runner-up in the Met Home of the Year Contest. The vestible was added to a Queen Anne-style house in Milton, DE, to provide an entrance to the rear of the house. The other outdoor room featured is part of a lakeside weekend retreat in north Texas.

Interior designer R. Lyle Boatman and artist Michael J. Pfleghaar's 1,200-square-foot home was constructed in 1953 and inspired by houses recognized by 'Architectural Record.' The pair modernized the kitchen, added several rooms, and removed paint from the redwood tongue-and-grove paneling.
