TRS and Stickley designer Margaret Haarsgaard observed the preponderance of various shades of blue on upholstery, both as a primary color and as an accent. She said aubergine has been given importance as an accent to blue, which she described as the lighter, oceany blue. Haarsgaard said that a lot of print converters have also mixed blue colorways with shades of orange, blue's opposite in the color wheel, Blue is also making a major color statement in Norwalk, said vice president of merchandising Jack Arthur. Meanwhile, Michael Thomas president Tom Jordan concurs about the distinct place for blue during the season.

Tyler releases 'hot-key' enhancement

Tyler Retail Systems of Clearwater, FL, a store automation vendor, has announced a new hot-key enhancement in its system software as well as the availability of direct cable access for users of the Internet-based automation network, Tyler.Net. Company President Scott Tyler said clients could use the hot-key to provide an easy-to-access help window or to show company policies related to the topics that are currently on the computer screen. The hot-key windows, which are featured on both the Tyler operating platforms, the server-based and the Internet-based, may be modified according to the clients' requirements.

Storis set to release Version 7.0

Storis Management Systems showed to a user conference the advantages of the Version 7.0 of its retail automation software as well as the improvements made on he Executive Information Systems module. The company said the latest program is slated for beta testing in January 1999 while general marketing would be later that year. Significant features of Version 7.0 are the point-of-sale screen, which could divide tickets, and a new screen, that could process even and uneven exchanges. Enhancements to the program include Power Query where questions could be fielded to multiple files through pop-up menus.
