Shaw Rugs returning to '99 Surfaces show
Article Abstract:
The Shaw Rug Division of Dalton, GA-based Shaw Industries will end a three-year absence at Surfaces, the annual tradeshow for floor covering producers, with a major exhibit in the 1999 Las Vegas edition scheduled at the Sands Convention Center from Jan. 28 to 30, 1999. The return will be marked by the occupation of the largest adjoining space at 15,200 sq ft and a $1 million raffle for retailers of carpets and rugs. The company stopped participating in the exhibit after entering the floor covering retail market in 1995 but the sale of the retail business to The Maxim Group and the prodding by dealers have led to the decision despite plans by Home Depot to refrain from buying the company's products.
