Sklar-Peppler to buy Oregon uph. mfr

Sklar-Peppler has decided to purchase Associated Furniture Manufacturers (AFM) of Portland, OR, for an undisclosed amount. The purchase, which is brokered by Stump & Co., is anticipated to be completed before Sept. 1, 1998. Both Sklar-Peppler, which has annual sales worth C$45 million, and AFM, which has sales in the S10 million range, specialize in stationary fabric upholstery. Sklar-Peppler CEO Bob Tweedy, who anticipates the combined firms to have sales worth more than C$60 million, stated that the purchase of AFM will strengthen Sklar-Peppler's market position in the US.
