The kingdoms of Edward Hicks
Article Abstract:
An understanding of Hicks' background as both a secular artist and a Quaker minister is necessary to fully appreciate his Peaceable Kingdom paintings. Consisting of 62 versions painted between 1816 and 1849, this series can be better understood with familiarity with the painter's writings as well as his personal knowledge and experience of Quaker life.

Soup tureens at Winterthur

The Campbell Collection of Soup Tureens has become part of the Winterthur Museum. It has some of the best examples of 18th century rococo tableware and soup items such as bronze, silver, gilt, porcelain, and earthenware tureens.
