Visco's history points to true space-age material
Article Abstract:
North Carolina-based company Dynamic Systems originally developed visco-elastic foam in the early 1970's for NASA, with a view to enhance protection for airline passengers during a crash. The company's improved visco materials are currently used in the bedding industry. The Tempur foam, developed by the Swedish-based Fagerdala World Foams, is used in the popular mattresses and pillows from Lexington, Kentucky-based Tempur-Pedic International. NASA has honored both Dynamic Systems and Tempur-Pedic for their contributions to the space program and for promoting visco products.
