Designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz has redesigned a 1938 Mediterranean-style house in Miami. The previous owner had painted all of the walls white. Noriega Ortiz and film producer Rene Fuentes-Chao decided to give the house a tropical feel and developed a compelling color scheme. The rooms have sparse furnishings and a fantasy aura pervades the dwelling.

Interior designer Jed Johnson and architect Alan Wanzenberg collaborated in expanding the beach bungalow they bought in 1988 in the tiny summer community of Water Island on New York's Fire Island. The two partners strove to made the one and a half-storey cottage as simple as possible.
