Cash, balanced funds rated for risk return
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of the performance of top investment companies conducted by the Institute of Management and Administration reports firms ranking high in on asset allocation and cash equivalent funds. The mutual fund firm Fidelity Investments Puritan ranked first in terms of size of offering, risk record and relative returns, while Husic Capital Management Balanced Growth scored high in asset size among companies involved in asset allocation. Meanwhile, Vanguard Group MM Reserves Prime Port had the highest offering among those offering in cash equivalents.

Funds seek equities' long-term gains
Article Abstract:
The poor performance of stocks and bonds in 1994 have forced many endowment and foundation funds to refocus their investment strategies. Fund managers are focusing on investments that provide long-term equity gains than short-term revenues. Although the shift toward long-term equities has yield substantial profits for such funds, it has forced fund managers to develop more sophisticated investment strategies.

Lifestyle funds may not be the right choice
Article Abstract:
Lifestyle funds are regarded as critical to retirement planning. They can simplify investment decisions for both employers and employee. However, they are not the panacea that their adherents claim them to be. Lifestyle funds do not lift fiduciary responsibilities from plan sponsors, are not goal-driven and require employee education.
