Contaminated land
Article Abstract:
Health risks can arise from land contaminated by such things as toxic chemicals which may be ingested or irritate the skin. Methane gas can build up in enclosed areas and create a danger of explosions and fire. The UK Environment Bill may clarify the position of companies involved with exposure to contaminated land. Risks to groundwater and the environment may be difficult to assess since the impact of chemicals on the environment is a complex issue. There is also no clear definition of what could be called clean land.
