Desperation in Corporate America
Article Abstract:
Downsizing can be devastating for affected employees, particulary when companies use devious tactics to avoid giving extra pay to their displaced employees. Companies have a moral obligation to take care of the people they hire beyond the time of their dismissal from their jobs. These employees should be provided with some kind of a support network that would help them keep their self-respect, find new work, and put their lives back in order. Displaced employees who have stayed and worked hard for their companies for many years do not deserve to be left to deteriorate to a level of total despair. Only companies devoid of ethics and moral conscience discharge their employees without trying to do anything to ensure their continued well-being.
