Article Abstract:
The UK Joint Industry Board (JIB) is seeking to revise the structure of training for electrical apprentices so it may benefit from up to 8 million pounds sterling in training grants from the government. Electrical apprentices can qualify up to level 3 of the National Vocational Qualification system, although JIB is looking into ways to allow apprentices to cover more detailed electronic installations, such as telecommunications hardware. The changed education structure is expected to be in place by September 1999.
