Human resource aspects of ISO 9000 in Belgian organizations
Article Abstract:
A survey of Belgian firms holding ISO 9000 certificates is useful to assess the human resource aspects of quality management and quality assurance. There appear to be three distinctive attitudes towards quality management. In some big companies, accounting for 13% of respondents, there is a human resource department of some significance, with a the personnel department extensively absorbed in implementing the quality system. In other companies, large and small, 53% of respondents, mainly operating in high technology, the personnel department plays a lesser role in quality, and in the case of 34% of respondents, there is no personnel department, but consultants are used.
