Medical care decisions with limited resources: can equitable decisions be made?
Article Abstract:
A decision-making model on how to implement medical care, given the existing financial and coverage limitations, is presented. The model was based on the cost of treatment and the individual's projected earnings. Results show that such a model will favor younger people with higher salaries in health care implementation. This poses grave implications since it violates age and discrimination laws and may result in litigations. Employers may reduce employee coverage but this will not solve the problem in the long term. This may lead to the formulation of a national health insurance program.

Medical records: information gathering and confidentiality
Article Abstract:
Employers should exert extra effort to make sure that their medical records are properly maintained to ensure confidentiality and proper security. The maintenance of employee medical records is undertaken mainly for compliance and reporting. Employers should evaluate reasons for acquiring certain types of medical information, prepare written guidelines on the confidentiality of medical records, mark confidential files as 'confidential' and limit access only to personnel or officials who have a legitimate need to know.
