Models for comparative analysis of culture: the case of Poland
Article Abstract:
An investigation of Polish cultural attitudes based on G. Hostede's dimensions has been used to re-evaluate the use of the concept of culture in the international management literature. This research has also reviewed the subordinate concepts of attitudes, beliefs, values and norms of behaviour. It was possible to identify a dependency type of cultural attitudes for Poland, based on high power distance, high collectivism, high uncertainty avoidance and mixed masculinity/femininity. There is a strong discrepancy between what is communicated between people as social values and what have been internalized as personal values.
