National culture and labour-market flexibility
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the connections between labour market flexibility and national culture presents the view that labour market rigidities, which affect the extent of labour market flexibility, will probably be broadly linked with national cultures. It was possible to prove that there is a strong statistical connection between three of the culture indices developed by G. Hofstede and labour market rigidities. Cultural values reflecting feminine gender structuring seem to be strongly linked with labour market inflexibility.

The impact of rules and regulations on workforce flexibility in Hong Kong
Article Abstract:
Flexibility means a company can adapt to change and it affects both employees and managers. A survey of 27 companies in Hong Kong looked at the effects of rules on workforce flexibility and management practices and also its effects on hiring employees, subcontracting, the organisations's performance, competitiveness and innovativeness. The size of the company affected the rules it imposed but rules and regulations did not affect performance, innovation or its ability to adapt to change.
