Service-related pay system not unlawful

Article Abstract:

A case that whether a pay system that rewarded length of service, resulting in indirect discrimination against women, has to be specifically justified by an employer is presented. The EAT findings noted that length of service as a criterion in a pay system did not require specific justification as length of service is generally objectively justified.

According to UK perspective, the main purpose of this directive is to regulate the uses of ex as a factor in calculating premiums and benefits for the purpose of insurance and related financial services.

The cabinet office that details the key steps taken to close the gender pay gap publishes a summary of civil service pay action plans. The main reason for differences in the pay system is the historic progression systems, broadening of pay bands and management discretion in areas such as pay on appointment and promotion.
